Sue Macdonald
Kew-trained, professional horticulturist: managed the Palm House at Kew; started Boxwood Tours in 1990 after several years of lecturing. Enjoys using her love and long experience of gardens and of travel to dream up entirely new programmes of superb, fresh tours every year. Hard work & attention to detail turns these dreams into successful garden tours, accumulating a loyal following of regular travellers with faith in Boxwood Quality. The 64% repeat booking rate and many letters of praise are a great source of satisfaction and a spur to ever-greater efforts for perfection. Boxwood has enabled Sue to raise a family whilst building a successful business and career in an area she loves.

Brian Macdonald
Also Kew-trained professional horticulturist, and designer of gardens and landscapes. Moved to Wales in 1997 to get back to hands-on gardening, setting up two walled gardens for growing vegetables, salads, herbs, fruit & cut flowers for an award winning local hotel. Since 2006, as well as providing IT, accounts and systems support for Boxwood Tours, Brian has been working to set up Wildlife Wales, a service offering a range of exciting wildlife activities to visitors to this superb stretch of North-West Wales coast: activities including Wildlife Walks & Holidays; Wild Food, 4 x 4 Safari and Fly-Fishing, as well as Rock-Pooling and other activities for kids.

Ali Newbould
Ali lives near Llanbedr and has helped in the Boxwood office for many years. We met at the village school gate, having children of similar ages; flexible working hours suit school age families. As well as helping Boxwood, Ali does a great deal of unsung work in the community and with her church. Dave, her husband, is a mountaineer turned professional photographer whose images of Snowdonia are unforgettable. Origins postcards, greetings cards and calendars are sought after from all over the world. Somehow, Ali also manages to supply South Wales with Origins products.

Ali Smith
Ali is the newest addition to the Boxwood team having been with us since 2014. Her love of ‘flora & fauna’ was present from an early age, inspired by an enthusiastic mother devoted to her garden and its wildlife. Her background is in hospitality, event management, travel & tourism. Prior to Boxwood, Ali worked locally as a gardener and continues to enjoy taking care of a small number of clients as she finds the outdoor work the perfect way to complement her busy role at Boxwood which includes taking good care of our travellers.
